- Grease marks or dark smudges around entry points on the outside of the roof, caused by fur brushing against timber or tiles repeatedly
- Debris such as leaves, twigs, or shredded material appearing in gutters or on the ground below eaves
Signs from outside the property
It's worth stepping back and looking at your roofline from the garden, particularly around soffits and fascias. Damaged or lifted fascia boards, small gaps at roof edges, or squirrels visibly moving in and out of a particular spot at the same time each day are all clear signals.
