Two questions come up on nearly every family booking: is the treatment safe around children and animals, and how long does everyone need to stay clear. Here are both, answered plainly.
At the nest entrance, not into living space. On most jobs that means outside the building entirely — a soffit, a gable, an airbrick, a hole in the lawn. Nothing is sprayed through a house, nothing is fogged, and no room is treated.
That is the single most useful thing to understand about safety here, because it means the exposure people worry about mostly does not arise. Where the entrance is inside — a loft, a garage, an outbuilding — the exclusion is that space, not the whole property.
We will tell you what to keep clear of and for how long before we leave, based on where the nest actually was rather than a generic figure.
Say when you book if there are children in the house, pets including caged animals and fish, anyone pregnant, or anyone with asthma or another respiratory condition. Also mention a pond, a vegetable patch, a hive or a chicken run near the nest. None of those stops the job; all of them change how it is planned.
Aquariums and ponds are the ones most often forgotten. If there is either near the nest, mention it — it takes a sentence and it matters.
The honest comparison is not treatment against nothing. It is treatment against a colony that is still growing next to where children play, at the time of year when it is largest and its wasps are at their most persistent.
A child who disturbs a ground nest in a lawn gets stung repeatedly rather than once, because the colony responds as a group. That is the scenario worth weighing, and it is why a nest in a family garden is not one to leave until the cold weather.
It is applied at the nest entrance rather than in living space, which on most jobs is outside the building entirely. Tell us who is in the house when you book and we will tell you exactly what to keep clear of and for how long.
Usually until the activity at the entrance has stopped, which is generally the same day. We give you a figure based on where the nest actually was before we leave.
Worth saying when you book. Neither stops the job, but both change how it is planned.
Not in a garden children use. The colony is at its biggest in late summer, and a disturbed nest stings repeatedly rather than once.

Wasp nest removal is a fixed £90, with no call-out charge. Tell us roughly where the wasps are going in — a roof edge, an airbrick, a hole in the lawn, a shed — and how high up it is, and we will come back to you.
Tell us who is in the house — children, pets, anyone pregnant or with a respiratory condition — and we will plan around it.
